Tula or Langa – do you have a favourite?
I love them both, it really depends on my mood. The floral notes in Tula remind me of holiday and Langa is just so fresh.
Your original range, Amka and Usiku are both inspired by Africa, and you’ve taken inspirations for Tula and Langa from the same country. What draws you so stronglyback to Africa?
Our family goes to Africa on holiday every year; we love the African culture and my Mother’s family are South African so it is country that lies deep in my heart.
What beauty products can’t you live without?
My body oils – they deeply nourish the skin. The Usiku Organic Body Oil has just won the Best Body Oil category at the Natural Health & Beauty Awards 2008.
Your dessert island essential?
A pair of tweezers.
Are you an online shopper?
Yes I shop online the whole time, it is so much easier now and it is also much more environmental.
Does Ronnie embrace organics?
Yes he does, mainly because he doesn’t have a choice! Everything in the Wood household is organic (apart from his HP Sauce). We never get sick and I am a firm believer this is because we look after ourselves from the inside out.
Will you ever do a facial range?
This is my dream! I do make up my own face oils and have partly developed a skincare range, so all I can say is watch this space!
As a pioneer in the field of organics, what advice can you offer to women looking to make informed choices about opting for organic skin care?
Read the labels and don’t be afraid to ask questions and challenge brands. The more we can do this together then the faster we can bring change. There is also so much more information available to us now. Read great books, and visit lots of informed websites to help you get started.
Do you have a beauty icon?
I always loved Brigit Bardot’s style with her black eyes and pale lips.
Are you a shoe or bag lady?
What kind of question is that! Both…but I have started to try and only source Vintage pieces or wear clothes from ethical and organic brands.
