• The Korres Colour range uses adventurous ingredients, such as Cherry Oil in lipgloss. Where does the inspiration to be daring come from?
From nature itself! In terms of ingredients, we wanted to remain loyal to our skincare philosophy and go for skin-compatible textures and key natural ingredients that deliver specific benefits. For instance, cherry oil is particularly rich in vitamins and antioxidants, has a very low rancidity rate, is easily absorbed by the skin, and deeply moisturising. It is often used to enhance creams that nourish dehydrated skin, or in moisturising lip-care products that help lips regain their lost shine and promote their naturally healthy bright cherry-red colour.

In terms of colour…it's all about interest, excitement and vitality. One of the most powerful of elements, colour has a direct influence on our mood, our way of thinking and living. Colours found in nature are bold, intense, and primitive. The pigments used in Korres Colour are crystal substances that alter the visual properties of the formula to create a number of effects in terms of colour intensity, transparency and brightness.
• Your Lip Butter flavours are the most delicious we’ve ever tried! Why did you choose fruity flavours instead of conforming with vanilla or mint!
I think you've answered this already! We wanted them to be the most delicious you've ever tried! That's how we felt during the early stages of the development of this range and this is how we develop products. We are not a brand that does customer audits or focus groups. We've never done this in our 12-year history. We just follow our love and respect for natural ingredients and create products that hopefully make people happy.

• What are the challenges of producing a make up line without using standard industry ingredients, such as mineral oils?
The greatest company mission is the ongoing investment in research regarding new technologies and ingredients. In the case of our Colour range, all products have been developed without mineral oil, parabens, propylene glycol and with minimum or zero, where possible, amounts of silicones. We have used vegetable oils and waxes, herbal extracts and vitamins.
We have devised special vegetable coating technology to ensure smooth application and excellent skin compatibility. So the end result is a skin friendly line with exciting colours and very good performance, which is continuously updated with new products and new technologies that enhance the natural direction.
• What effect does vitamin infused make up have on the skin?
Vitamins in general are powerful ingredients that improve skin tonicity & firmness, revealing a glowing complexion. If we start looking into specifics, Vitamin C for instance offers significant repairing activity to fine lines and skin colour disorders; in combination with Vitamin E, it shields the skin from internal and external ageing factors...and so on. Since make-up is added directly to the skin, our make up has to follow our skincare philosophy and look after the skin.

• Korres holds its roots in homeopathy. Are you an avid follower of homeopathic principles or do you prefer to mix and match with conventional treatments?
All things in moderation, as said by the ancient Greeks! When I started working at Athens’ first ever homeopathic pharmacy, I was exposed to the power and appeal of herbs and the medicinal use of herbs. Registering, day after day the efficacy of herbal preparations, studying and collecting an extensive bibliography and being personally involved, I am convinced that homeopathy and phytotherapy are very beneficial treatments and they are always my first choice.

• What remedy do you take everywhere?
One for indigestion - a herbal infusion which is also great for mums-to-be (who often suffer from indigestion problems). Ingredients: dried aniseed, coriander, chamomile, tisane, caraway and lemon balm / Preparation: Put equal portions of the herbs into a cup. Add hot water (not boiled) and leave the blend for 20 minutes. Stir the mix and then strain it into a cup. The infusion is ready to drink. / Tip: Add a spoon of honey for a sweeter infusion.
• What beauty products can’t you live without?
My Korres Wild Rose 24-hour moisturiser and a tinted Lip Butter. • Are you an internet shopper? Not an advanced one I have to admit…but I do shop online, mainly items that I don't have to try on first! • What is your desert island essential? My music and my books! • Are you a shoe or a bag lady? Definitely…both!
